What Is A Watershed?

Simply put, a watershed is an area of land that drains into a body of water. This could be an ocean, river, creek, stream, ditch, pond or lake. The area can be very small or very large.

There are two main watersheds located with Adams County. They are the Ohio Brush Creek Watershed and the Scioto Brush Creek Watershed. Where you are standing right now may be part of one or more watersheds. For example, Ohio Brush Creek is part of the Ohio River Watershed, which is part of the Mississippi River Watershed, which is part of the Gulf of Mexico Watershed.
