Scioto Brush Creek Sweep
In 2008, due to the success of the Ohio Brush Creek Sweep, the Friends of Scioto Brush Creek in cooperation with Scioto Soil and Water Conservation District launched their own Sweep on Scioto Brush Creek.
The purpose of the Friends of Scioto Brush Creek is to maintain and improve the water quality of Scioto Brush Creek through education, awareness, and involvement of local residents. The Sweep is a good example of just one of the many things that the Friends do to accomplish our goal. During the cleanup there are a couple of short presentations to educate participants about some of the issues facing Scioto Brush Creek. The Sweep also creates environmental awareness as participants see first hand the types of things that are impacting the stream. And finally, the sweep involves the participants in a hands-on, feet-wet, sort of way as they remove garbage and debris that is polluting our stream.
The cleanup portion of the sweep is done entirely from canoes that are supplied by Adams Soil and Water.
